If there are dreams about a beautiful South Africa, there are also roads that lead to their goal. Two of these roads could be named goodness and forgiveness ~ Nelson Mandela
It is with the utmost respect and humility that we honor former South Africa President Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, an iconic, anti-apartheid revolutionary and politician who after 27 years of imprisonment; fashioned justified anger and resentment into moral force. This beloved leader incited a movement of tolerance and impact of global proportion.
On behalf of the office of the Honorary Consul to the Republic of Botswana, Mr. Robert S. Shumake and the Botswana American Chamber of Commerce, we offer our deepest condolences to the family of this great man, the nation of South Africa and the countless individuals affected by his life work.
“Nelson Mandela has been a part of my life fabric. As a student I spent time protesting and boycotting against apartheid, as a businessman I promoted trade to South Africa and the need to promulgate global opportunities, as a diplomat I have learned grace and peace and as a human I am inspired by his dignity…Viva Mandiba!” ~ Honorary Consul Shumake
We will continue to honor his legacy of moral courage and advancement for the people of South Africa through our ongoing efforts to partner and support economic development on the continent and the country.
During our recent trade mission “Doing Business in Botswana” with the Ambassador to the Republic of Botswana, Her Excellency Dr. Tebelelo Seretse, we were graced with the company of Mandela’s daughter, Zindzu who embodied the grace, humility and dignity that she learned at her father’s knee.
We walked away confident that the prosperity and opportunities of a free democratic South Africa under President Mandela will be continued to be championed by the warm spirit of Zindzu and her family.
It is the commitment of our office to persist with dialogue and action in the vein of advancement for South Africa and in the essence of the great ‘Madiba’.
